How to Choose a Joinery Contractor in Dubai
Start with how the work is measured
Any conversation about joinery should begin with measurement. A supplier quoting from a floor plan is estimating; a joinery contractor quoting from a site survey is pricing. The difference shows up later, usually as variations on site.
Ask who measures, when they measure, and whether the measurement includes wall plumb, ceiling height and the position of services. On a villa, out-of-square walls change the final carcass dimensions, and a supplier who never sees them will either pad the quote or build to a drawing that cannot be installed.
Ask to see a shop drawing
A shop drawing is where the design becomes buildable: panel sizes, grain direction, hardware positions, and how the units meet the wall and floor. If a contractor will not produce one, or produces it only after a deposit, expect surprises during installation.
For a kitchen, the drawing should show the internal layout, not just the doors — where the sink and hob sit, how appliances are housed, and where the services enter the carcass.
Material specification matters more than branding
Ask what board is used and where. Marine plywood for wet areas, quality MDF or plywood for dry volumes, and what the finish system is. A showroom full of imported doors tells you very little about the carcass that will be inside a wall.
Then ask about the hardware: hinges, runners and channels, with the brand named. Hardware is the part most clients notice daily, and it is the part most often reduced to the cheapest available.
Check the site process before you check the price
A joinery package usually runs: survey, drawings, your approval, material procurement, production, finishing, delivery, installation, snagging. Ask how long each step takes and what triggers the next one. A contractor who can tell you what they need from you, and by when, is managing the programme rather than reacting to it.
Finally, look at finished work in the building
Ask to visit a live or recently completed project of a similar scope and speak to the client who lived through it. Then request a written quotation that states what is included, what is excluded, the finish schedule, and the handover documentation you receive.
A clear quotation is not the cheapest one. It is the one where nothing important is implied.
Talk to us about your project
If you are comparing joinery contractors in Dubai, send us your drawings or BOQ. We will tell you what we can see from them, what we still need, and whether the scope is realistic — before any numbers are involved.
